Solid Beams vs. Box Beams
A solid beam is milled from one continuous piece of wood, ideal when maximum structural strength is required. A box beam, by contrast, is a hollow beam built from 1-inch boards with precision-mitered edges. This seamless design delivers the exact visual impact of a solid timber with far less weight—making it easier to install and more versatile for both new builds and remodels.
Are Box Beams Structural?
Our box beams are decorative and non-load-bearing. They’re designed to wrap around existing framing, steel posts, or structural elements to achieve the look of solid timbers—without the need for heavy construction or reinforcement.
Why Choose The Tree Knot to Make Your Box Beams?
Built to Last: Crafted from premium kiln-dried pine or white oak, each piece is engineered for long-term durability.
Custom Finishes: Available in a variety of styles, from smooth, modern finishes to aged, hand-hewn textures to match your project's exact specifications.
How Are Beams Installed?
Installation is straightforward. Each beam slides over wood blocking or cleats that are securely fastened to your ceiling or wall. Because the beams are hollow, they’re ideal for remodels or retrofits where minimal structural modification is desired.
Lead Times
Lead times vary depending on beam size and finish. Most orders ship within 4–6 weeks after your final color approval. Stain samples ship within 2 business days for review prior to production.
Return Policy
Due to the custom dimensions and finishes of each order, all sales are final. Unused or extra beams cannot be returned or refunded.
